How We Work

How We Work

Following the initial enquiry/consultation you will be sent an email confirming the conversation and indicating the identified options or solutions to your particular situation.

If you wish to proceed with a suggested option we will require you to sign a formal Client Agreement that confirms all services to be provided and the costs for which you are responsible. The MARA Consumer guide will also be provided to you which indicates the industry standards for the service you received.

Upon receipt of the signed Agreement you will be sent a document checklist and relevant information specific to your situation, and work on your application can then commence. We aim for a turnaround time from sign-up to lodgement of 2 weeks depending upon your ability to respond to our queries quickly and provide essential documents and information. We are also able to adjust this timeframe if you have an urgent need for a quicker service due to a visa expiry deadline, etc.

We will prepare a draft application for you, and you will be required to check and approve this prior to lodgement. We will take responsibility for preparation, lodgement and ongoing management of your application and will liaise with the department of home affairs on your behalf as necessary.

If you wish to contact us to discuss your migration situation, you can do so via the enquiry form on this website, by email or by telephone. We will respond to your enquiry and if appropriate will arrange a consultation either in person or by telephone at a mutually convenient time. Whilst it is always a pleasure to meet new clients, face-to-face meetings are time consuming and except in particularly complex situations, we generally find that communication via email and telephone is sufficient to manage the relationship.

How much will your services cost me?2024-03-10T05:35:27+00:00

We make a charge for an initial consultation, and if clients decide to engage our services we will almost always work on a fixed fee basis. The fees will depend upon the type of visa, number of dependents to be included and any special requirements specific to the applicants situation. The fee
will be confirmed in the Client Agreement, and will cover all work up to and including visa lodgement. Any standard requests or queries received from the department of home affairs during the processing period will also be addressed without further charge. Extra charges may be incurred if new circumstances arise during the processing period requiring unforeseen work eg development of a medical condition, or a new police conviction etc.

Can I get a visa if I have a previous police conviction from any country?2024-03-10T05:33:58+00:00

Australia takes character assessment of visa applicants very seriously, and you should advise us immediately if you have a police conviction no matter how long ago or how minor. Except in cases involving a custodial sentence it can be possible to obtain a successful visa outcome, as long as the matter is addressed sufficiently to satisfy concerns regarding character.

Do I need to have medical checks?2024-03-10T05:32:40+00:00

All permanent visa applications require all applicants to undergo a prescribed range of medical checks, and all applicants are required to pass the medicals. In some cases it may be possible to obtain a waiver of the health requirement if an applicant is unable to meet the standard. In some cases temporary visa applicants may be required to undergo medicals depending on their country of passport or time spent previously in countries which are deemed high risk for TB.

How quickly can I become a permanent resident?2024-03-10T05:21:07+00:00

This depends on each person’s personal situation and their eligibility for certain pathways. Whilst some visa programs eg skilled migration may be the quickest pathway for some, it is not suitable for everyone. We will always endeavour to identify a long term pathway for all clients that are interested in this option, but no two cases are the same.

How long will it take for my visa to be processed?2024-03-10T05:22:13+00:00

The government indicates a range of processing times for each visa type which give a broad indication of the timeline. This can vary dramatically depending on visa type, ranging from a couple of days to 20+ years. Ensuring that your application is fully compliant with the legislation relevant to your visa class, and that all supporting documents are provided in good time will significantly assist with a faster and smoother processing process.

Do I have to use a migration agent?2024-03-14T10:40:35+00:00

There is absolutely no requirement to use a migration agent, and many applicants are confident to manage the process themselves. However, visa applications can vary in complexity and also cost and applicants often feel more confident employing the services of a professional to help them navigate the often complicated migration legislation to avoid making expensive and potentially life-changing mistakes.

What should I do if my visa has expired?2024-03-10T05:27:50+00:00

If you realise that your visa has expired whilst you are in Australia and you become unlawful you should seek assistance immediately to rectify your situation. Whilst visa options are limited when unlawful, the opportunities to remain are greater if you attempt to resolve your migration status within 28 days of the initial visa expiry date. We would strongly advise contacting a migration professional at the earliest opportunity to obtain advice in this complicated situation.

Can I extend my current visa?2024-03-10T05:29:13+00:00

It is not possible for an existing visa to be extended, but it may be possible to re-apply for another visa of the same or a different type to allow you to remain longer in Australia. To avoid becoming unlawful as mentioned above, we recommend seeking migration advice in good time prior to visa expiry to identify the most appropriate new application.

Can I include my partner/children in my visa?2024-03-10T05:30:16+00:00

Most visas will allow you to include your partner and children in the initial visa application, or to add them in to the application whilst it is being processed. In some cases it is possible to add dependents to a visa post-grant.

Do I need to take an English test?2024-03-10T05:31:17+00:00

Applicants for some visa programs including students, skilled migration and employer sponsored visas require a specific level of English ability which may be met via taking an approved English test, evidence of acceptable study in English or a passport from specified countries.
